The JAY BEE notched
hammer is unique in the industry because of the extra steps taken in the
manufacturing process. These steps make it the most balanced hammer on the
market today and identifies it as the ORIGINAL AND GENUINE JAY BEE hammer.
Only high quality cold formed steel is selected in the first
step of our process. A smoother finish is provided to the ultimate
product. The hammers are formed through a series of dies so that each
hammer is identical to the next. THE IMPORTANT STEPS ARE:
-
The first die, a blanking die,
punches undersized holes and cuts out the notches. MOST
MANUFACTURERS PUNCH STANDARD-SIZED HOLES ON THIS STEP AND FOREGO ANY FURTHER
PROCESSING.
-
The JAY BEE hammer, after step #1,
is "broached". The broaching process accurately enlarges the
undersized holes that were punched by the blanking process for a fit to the
various sized hammer rods manufactured by JAY BEE.
-
Finally, the most important step
occurs when the hammer is processed through a "shave die." This die
positions the hammer using both holes and "shaves" the perimeter of the
entire hammer. This ensures uniformity so that each hammer is the same
and has the identical "swing" characteristics.
-
The finished hammers are then heat
treated to a hardness of 58-60 on the Rockwell "C" scale.
-
Each hammer is weighed and bundled
in sets to insure proper balance. This means less vibration, longer
bearing life and maximum performance of your mill.
THESE "EXTRA" STEPS ENSURE THE FINEST AND MOST ACCURATE
NOTCHED HAMMER ON THE MARKET TODAY.
JAY BEE manufactures the three most
popular notched sizes, 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" thick hammers. JAY BEE will,
at your request, furnish these hammers with welded hardening on the leading
tips.
